The answer is in one simple word. Elcito. A tiny, characteristic Borgo perched on a hill at an altitude of 800 mt. Elevation, Isolation, Panorama, Tranquillity generated this well spread definition of Elcito as the 'Little Tibet of Marche'.
Elcito lies inside a regional natural reserve -S. Vicino Mountain- close to San Severino Marche. Originally Elcito was a fortress, built to protect a nearby Benedictin monastry. Today only a few persons live there. A visit worth the detour from much more advertised locations, especially in the autumn, to have a walk and admire the centuries-old beech forrest of Canfaito.
