The innovative Centre Italian Regions’ model of condominio theatres, after 4 years, is listed by Unesco as a World Heritage symbol. Culture spread to the medium and lower society classes, especially in the minor, rural, communities, also thanks to this totally innovative alliance of public and private sectors. A model that, more than 2oo years after, is still facing huge political debates.
A large number of historic u shaped, multifloor theatres brought to life and contributed to a terrific change of the Italian culture. Rich families financed the renovation of older buildings, the local City Authorities offered the spaces. As a results Ancona, Ascoli Piceno, Macerata, Fermo, Offida, Fabriano, San Severino Marche, Urbania pionerred new places to group up and gather, doing business, eating together and listening to opera and drama performances.
Not to forget many other theatres whose bid was not accepted.
